Wayne State University
Wayne State University was founded in 1868 and is located in the University Cultural Center in the heart of Detroit, Michigan.
This university is recognized nationally as a metropolitan research institution. There are more than 400 academic programs offered throughout 13 schools and colleges. The main campus for Wayne State, which is located in the heart of Midtown Detroit, comprises 100 buildings over nearly 200 acres.
Wayne State is a university that's dedicated to preparing it's students to excel through academics as well as through history and location. It has an excellent international reputation, especially in the field of sciences.
The university boasts approximately 32,000 students, 89 percent of which are from the metro Detroit area with the remainder from outside of Michigan. More than 41 percent are considered minorities (25 percent African-American) and the average age for the total undergraduate, graduate and professional student population is 27.1 years. Out of Michigan's 15 public universities, Wayne State has the most diverse student body. Numerous students also work while attending school.
